Embracing the rich heritage of one of Malta’s oldest cities, Cospicua (Bormla), our project intertwines the past with the present through a contemporary architectural extension.

In this endeavour, we propose internal alterations to enhance functionality while preserving historical integrity. Atop the structure, a subtle recessed extension is being proposed, seamlessly blending modernity with tradition.

The architectural concept focuses on breathing new life to this storied Cospicua streetscape by harmonizing the past with the present. Notably, our design reimagines an existing void on the facade, infusing it with contemporary flair while maintaining a respectful nod to its historic essence. By consolidating the façade with the proposed extension in stone, the intention is also to stay true to the architectural narrative of an internal courtyard behind the said façade. In fact, this façade extension is composed of vertical solids and voids which contribute to the play between outdoors and indoors.
